Six Pillars of
Transformation
A comprehensive model that provides everything a beginning farmer needs — from land and training to mentorship, healing, and business support.
Land Access
2 acres of dedicated farmland at The Inkwell provide participants with the one resource most beginning farmer programs fail to deliver: actual land to farm. This is not a theoretical exercise — it is real ground, real crops, and real opportunity.
- Dedicated farming plots for each participant
- Access to shared tools, equipment, and infrastructure
- Pathways to leased or owned farmland after the program
- Located at The Inkwell — a permanent community resource

Agricultural Training
Hands-on farming education that teaches real-world skills from seed to harvest. Participants learn sustainable farming practices, crop planning, soil health management, and harvest techniques — all while working the land.
- Seasonal crop planning and soil management
- Sustainable and organic farming practices
- Herb cultivation and specialty crop production
- Post-harvest handling and food safety

Mentorship
Guidance from experienced farmers and community leaders who understand the journey. Mentors provide not just technical knowledge, but encouragement, accountability, and the wisdom that comes from lived experience.
- One-on-one guidance from experienced farmers
- Regular check-ins and support sessions
- Peer learning community among participants
- Connection to broader agricultural networks

Entrepreneurship Support
Turn agricultural skills into sustainable livelihoods. Participants develop farm business plans, learn about value-added products, and gain access to local markets — building enterprises that create economic opportunity for themselves and their communities.
- Farm business plan development
- Value-added product creation (herbs, herbal wellness)
- Market access and sales strategy
- Financial literacy and business management

Trauma-Informed Healing & Wellness
A healing-centered approach that recognizes growth starts from within. The farm itself is a healing space — a place where working with the land becomes a pathway to personal restoration, purpose, and peace.
- Healing-centered program design
- Wellness practices integrated into daily farm work
- Community support and connection
- Mental health awareness and resources

Reentry Support
Pathways for returning citizens to become land stewards and leaders. HEALing SoIL changes the narrative — transforming lived experience into community strength, providing purpose, stability, and a future rooted in the land.
- Tailored support for returning citizens
- Skill building for long-term employment and ownership
- Connection to Beyond the Walls network
- Leadership development opportunities
